General Notes (Husband)

Served in the Civil War with D. Company 139 Indiana infantry. He returned to the farm where he soon traded his share for a store at Trask Post Office nearby. After he married Mollie Hayden he moved with their four children, Belle, Frank, Will, and Lillie "West" looking for a home in Missouri. For some reason this move didn't work out and they returned to Grant County, Indiana and the farm.

In About 1876, Amos began the study of medicine under a Dr. Spurgeon in Muncie, Indiana and was licensed to practice in Indiana.

The mortar and pestle with which Amos ground his own herbs gathered in the woods himself are still on display in the office lobby of the New York Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. They are the possession of Dr. Donald A. Covalt, manager and assistant director, granson of Dr. Amos Fallis 17
