General Notes (Husband)

Thomas along with his mother Mary Catherine Coughlan, and his brothers, Denis and Bat, and his sisters, Ellen and Hannah, came to the United States together. Thomas may have been about 13 years old. Originally, they lived in New York. When they moved to Brookline, they lived in a duplex at Pearl Street. Thomas, Denis and Bat Married. Hannah never did. She was killed in a trolley car accident. Ellen married Cornelious Mahoney.

Hannah and Ellen lived on one side of the duplex on Pearl Street with Mary Coughlan when she was alive. Search of the Census records indicates that the address was 76 Pearl Street. In the 1900 Census, Mary Mahoney lived at 76 with her daughter, Hannah. Also, it states that her maiden name was Coughlan. This was probably a misspelling by the recording clerk as was the maiden name of Mary (it was listed as Coffin) on her death certificate. Also, I found a Cornelious Mahoney living at 76 Pearl Street and a Bartholomew at 60 Pearl Street.

The first residence after marriage was 39 Pearl Street where Agnes Mahoney was born.

Thomas said he walked across the Brooklyn Bridge the day it opened on 5/24/1883 with the future Cardinal Hayes of New York.
